Mission

Reading is one of God's great gifts to us!  My passion is to encourage students to read quality literature -- and to fan the flame of their love of learning by providing literature studies that are interesting and engaging.

When I began writing literature study guides for books in the TRAILBLAZER series in 1996, the mission of Christian Novel Studies was to provide literature study guides for Christian literature.  After the guides were completed for all of the books in the TRAILBLAZER series, we wrote guides for books by Patricia St. John, J. R. R. Tolkien, and C. S. Lewis.

Over the years we have expanded to writing mini-guides for secular books, but a Christian perspective continues to be a focus for each guide.  Our mission has changed a bit in the process:  One of our main goals is to provide literature-based materials with a Christian perspective at affordable prices.

I believe that learning should be fun, interative, and hands-on, so room for students to write answers in CNS materials is not provided (this also helps keep the cost of CNS materials low).  If you want your students to write the answers, they should write in a spiral notebook or use a computer to type answers.

I also believe that it is important for students learn to discern and to learn to think critically.  There are many opportunities for students to develop in these areas in CNS guides and in the America:  An Integrated Curriculum program.
